Health for Humanity’s Board of Directors 2009-2010

Health for Humanity’s directors are elected by the membership for a 2 year term. We are grateful for the time and effort they expend toward the success of the organization.

President: Cindy Masaro - RN. MSN.

Cindy is a nurse with medical, surgical, OR, public health, and research experience. She has completed course work in international health. Currently she is working on her PhD at UBC with a focus on both epidemiology and nursing. She was a founding board member and is now concentrating our public health program initiatives

Vice-President: Nancy Martin - RN

Nancy is a registered nurse with extensive experience in post anesthetic care unit at a major hospital in Surrey BC.  Her volunteer experience in the medical field includes 8 missions to Guatemala, 5 of which she  was the division leader for the recovery area. She has also participated in 3 surgical mission trips to the Philippines. On one of these missions she was the main organizer and in-country team leader.

Treasurer: Al Ronalds

Al Ronalds has worked for Scotiabank since 1962 with experience in all aspects of banking in more than a dozen countries throughout North and Central America and the Caribbean. This includes more than 30 years analyzing corporate financial statements and development of related computer software.
 
Al has been treasurer of H4H since 2005 and has participated in five surgical missions to Guatemala in an administrative support role managing the procurement of and payment for supplies, transportation, meals and accommodation.

Secretary: Ray Mcfetridge

Ray has been team manager on three Health for Humanity surgical trips to Guatemala. In 2008 he shared the team leader role and managed team finances.  Currently he works as the Manager of Special Projects at a major cake manufacturing plant.  He is trained in and has been managing projects for five years.  Prior to this he taught high school  maths and sciences for 15 years.  He also has computer skills and training and experience in photography.

Director: Patricia Shelby RN. BSN.

Pat has worked in Health Promotion and Prevention for the past 18 years. She has been involved in numerous public health initiatives including the development of an award winning multi-disciplinary youth wellness centre.  In the past 4 years Pat has been on 3 missions and has organized/ administered the vaccine program at the Obras.

Director: Cheryl Davies R.N., MEd

Cheryl is currently the Vice-President, Ambulatory Programs at BC Women’s Hospital & Health Centre, the largest maternity hospital in Canada and the only facility in BC devoted primarily to the health of women, newborns and their families.  In addition to being a Registered Nurse, she holds a Masters degree in Adult Education from the University of British Columbia.  She has over 20 years experience in women’s health as a clinician, educator and executive leader, in both community and hospital settings.  As a passionate advocate for women’s health agendas and social justice, she is an active volunteer.  She joined Health for Humanity in 2005, more recently becoming a Board Director, and has supported four surgical missions in nursing, logistics and team leadership capacities.         
         

Director: Mike Morton FRCP(C) 

Mike was founding president of H4H and continues as a board member. He is an anesthesiologist with experience in hospital administration and an interest in international health.
